The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) serves as the primary advisor to the DHS Geospatial Information Infrastructure (GII) System Owner, providing security guidance, oversight, and technical expertise. This role focuses on security controls implementation, maintenance, and compliance with DHS security standards and the GII Security Plan (SP). The ISSO is responsible for ensuring continuous monitoring, assessment, and documentation of system security across all GII systems.

Requirements

  • Service as the principal security advisor to the GII System Owner.
  • Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with DHS policies and the GII Security Plan.
  • Perform Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) with automated scanning and review of findings.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) and DHS directives.
  • Support DHS cyber investigation and data call responses related to system security.

Requirements Summary

7-10 yrs IT security exp., 3-5 yrs ISSO/security exp. must meet GTSS 3.0/4300A or equivalent. Certifications like CISSP, CISM, CAP, or CE are required
