Pyramid is seeking a talented Mainframe Engineer with depth of experience in analyzing requirements, conceiving solutions, developing software, creating and executing test scripts, and debugging finished products to meet operational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe development and maintenance using technologies such as: COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS, VSAM, IMS, TSO/ISPF, REXX, IDMS, DYL-260/280, ENDEVOR, IBM Mainframe – Z/OS, IBM Message Queue (MQ), IBM Installation Manager, IBM Middleware/WRS Stack, IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), Mainframe Database System Administration, Mainframe Systems Analysis and administration, and MUMPS
  • Proven experience in full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and support
  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and debugging in a mainframe environment
  • Familiarity with version control systems and change management processes in mainframe environments
  • Strong understanding of batch and online processing
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Willingness to provide after-hours production support and participate in on-call rotations, including 24/7 support during critical periods like FMS Annual Close
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience with approved project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, GitHub, and ServiceNow
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies, DevSecOps principles, and Lean-Agile frameworks (e.g., VIP, PLM)
  • Familiarity with job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, CA-7)
  • Experience supporting financial, insurance, or government systems, particularly FMS (Financial Management System)
  • Understanding of compliance and audit requirements in regulated environments, including FISMA, HIPAA, NIST, FIPS, etc.
  • Experience with database migration tools like Liquibase and Flyway
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) as they apply to IT modernization efforts
