Staff Software Engineer - Backend (Persistence)

ServiceNow is seeking a Staff Data Platform Engineer to contribute to Trino Engine development and infrastructure. This role focuses on performance optimization, scalability, and reliability within the Platform Persistence group, working with large customer datasets. The engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing critical components of Trino and containerized deployment solutions, collaborating with team members to solve distributed systems challenges.

Requirements

• Experience with AI integration into work processes.
• Experience with AI productivity tools.
• Strong expertise in Trino engine development or similar distributed query engines.
• Solid experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Strong understanding of distributed query processing and optimization.
• Advanced knowledge of Java/JVM ecosystem and performance tuning.
• Strong background in SQL and distributed database systems.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Good communication skills
• Track record of delivering complex technical projects
