As a Staff Software Engineer- Network Systems at ServiceNow, you will build and maintain robust software systems, lead and optimize CI/CD pipelines, and design and secure containerized applications. You will also troubleshoot and optimize network performance and integrate programmable infrastructure and network automation into modern DevOps workflows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience with proficiency in at least two programming languages (Python, Go, Java)
  • Expert-level CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code experience using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible
  • Deep containerization expertise with Docker/Podman including multi-stage builds, security scanning, optimization, and service mesh technologies (Envoy) for microservices communication
  • Solid TCP/IP networking foundation including IPv4/IPv6, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and network security concepts (firewalls, VPNs, TLS/SSL)
  • Practical load balancing and network troubleshooting experience with NGINX, Envoy, F5, cloud load balancers, plus proficiency using Wireshark, curl, dig, and network debugging utilities
  • Network automation and programmable infrastructure familiarity with experience integrating network components into modern DevOps workflows
  • Cloud platform expertise with hands-on experience in at least one major platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) including compute, storage, networking services, cost management, and multi-environment strategies
  • Comprehensive monitoring and observability skills using Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK stack for metrics collection, alerting, log aggregation, and distributed systems correlation
  • Chaos engineering and reliability practices with knowledge of testing principles, change management processes, and feature flag/toggle implementations
  • Experience with modern deployment patterns including progressive delivery techniques (canary deployments, blue-green, A/B testing) and cloud-native observability
