A Database Administrator II is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the databases to support the computing environment.
Requirements
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle and SQL Server databases in on-prem and hybrid cloud environments.
- Monitor and optimize database performance; write, debug, and tune complex SQL and PL/SQL or T-SQL queries.
- Manage and test backup and disaster recovery strategies using native tools (RMAN, SQL Server native backups, etc.).
- Configure and support high availability solutions (e.g., Oracle Data Guard, RAC, Always On, Log Shipping, Failover Clustering).
- Participate in weekly rotating on-call shifts and respond to alerts, incidents, and outages in real time.
- Perform after-hours maintenance activities and support application code deployments during nights and weekends as needed.
- Use a ticketing system (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) to manage and prioritize tasks.
- Use version control systems (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) to maintain and deploy database code and scripts.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and infrastructure teams to provide database expertise and ensure system stability.
- Be open to learning and supporting additional RDBMS platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) as needed.
