Staff Database Engineer

ServiceNow is seeking a Staff Database Engineer with expertise in MariaDB and PostgreSQL to support, optimize, and scale their database-backed services. This role focuses on ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability across customer-facing platforms and internal systems. The engineer will also collaborate with product and engineering teams to design scalable data architectures and service integrations.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience with MariaDB and PostgreSQL in production environments
• Strong understanding of database internals, indexing strategies, replication, and failover mechanisms
• Proficiency in SQL performance tuning and query optimization
• Experience with backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery planning, and data migration
• Familiarity with monitoring tools
• Fluent in German and English (written and verbal)
• Ability to travel to our customer site in Germany
