Staff Software Engineer - Backend (Persistence)

ServiceNow is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Persistence organization and be part of the company's AI-powered platform. The role focuses on building the core of the ServiceNow AI Platform, specifically focusing on data access, query capabilities, and scalability for internal and external customers. The team collaborates on building scalable, reliable systems.

Requirements

• Experience with integrating AI into workflows or problem-solving.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (typically 6+ years).
• Experience with AI Productivity tools like Windsurf or Cursor is a plus.
• 6+ years of hands-on backend development with Java.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of relational database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, MS SQL Server) and cloud-based systems.
• Knowledge of data modelling and data storage technologies.
• Troubleshooting complex systems across the stack.
• Comfort with development tools such as IDEs, debuggers, profilers, and Unix-based systems.
